Public Availability Sessions
As this public health respiratory health study moved from neighborhood to neighborhood, free public information sessions were held to give local residents an opportunity to find out more about the study.
Mecklenburg County:
- Thursday, Nov. 15, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Fire Station #1 at 19729 S. Main St. in Cornelius. The session covered two study areas: (1) the area around the Foamex LP facility in Cornelius and (2) in Huntersville, the area around the Church St./Holbrooks Rd. intersection, 3 miles south of Foamex and east of I-77.
Guilford and Randolph counties:
- Monday, July 9, 2007, from 5 to 8 pm at the Guilford/Randolph Fire Department, 10506 S. Main St., Archdale for residents living near the Flexible Foam (formerly VitaFoam) plant
- Tuesday, July 10, 2007, from 5 to 8 pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 3228 Hines Chapel Rd., McLeansville for McLeansville residents;
- Thursday, July 12, 2007, from 5 to 8 pm at Ulah Fire Dept., 2067 Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd., Asheboro for Asheboro residents; and
- Friday, July 13, 2007, from 5 to 8 pm at Pleasant Garden Fire Dept., 4814 Pleasant Garden Rd., Pleasant Garden for residents living near the Olympic Products (formerly Vitafoam) plant.
- Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Fire Station #1, 401 S. Church St., Asheboro for residents living around the Prestige Fabricators facility in Asheboro. (Note: this location replaced the area around Flexible Foam in High Point, which was eliminated from the study due to the presence of other diisocyanate-emitting sources in the area.)
Catawba County:
- Monday, May 7, 2007 - 6 to 8 pm at New Life Assembly of God, Section House Road, Hickory;
- Tuesday, May 8, 2007 - 3 to 5 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2448 Emmanuel Church Road, Conover; and
- Tuesday, May 8, 2007 - 6 to 8 pm at Oxford Fire and Rescue #2, 5710 North NC 16 Highway, Conover.
