Charge to the N.C. TDI Community Health Study Advisory Panel

The purpose of the North Carolina Toluene Diisocyanate Advisory Panel (hereafter referred to as “advisory panel”) is to:

1) provide input to the study team regarding communication approaches for participants, media, health care providers, and other stakeholders; and

2) effectively communicate information regarding the study of toluene diisocyanate exposures in North Carolina communities to all interested stakeholders.

This advisory panel is being convened to share information and gather input on the toluene diisocyanate exposure study being carried out under a partnership between the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). The purpose of this advisory panel is not to reach consensus on appropriate scientific or methodological approaches in the study of toluene diisocyanate exposures in North Carolina communities. While panel members are free to voice their opinions and concerns regarding the study, NCDHHS and ATSDR will maintain full authority in the conduct of the study. While related topics may be discussed during advisory panel meetings, this discussion does not imply that NCDHHS and ATSDR have to abide by the panel members’ recommendations.
