AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP)

The North Carolina HIV Medications Program, funded jointly by state and federal dollars, is designed to provide financial assistance to low-income state residents for the purchase of medications specifically used to combat HIV and the opportunistic infections which are specific to AIDS. Guidelines for participation in the program include a diagnosis of HIV infection and gross income at or below 300 percent of the Federal Poverty Level.

Since July 12, 2010, the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) has been limited to new enrollees who are at or below 125 percent of the Federal Poverty Level. Because of increasing need and limited availability of state funding, we are not able to provide service at this time to all who are ADAP-eligible. A waiting list continues to be maintained for those individuals between 126 and 300 percent of the Federal Poverty Level.
